What are the Requirements for Research Cleanrooms?
The standards of university research laboratory cleanrooms vary depending on the intended use. A chemistry lab will have a different grade than an archaeology lab, for example.
As a guide, the classification of research labs we have worked on previously has ranged from ISO 7 to ISO 5. Cleanrooms work by changing the air frequently and filtering the incoming air to reduce the concentration of particulate matter per cubic metre below a certain level.
Cleanrooms can also be equipped to control other environmental factors, such as light levels, temperature, humidity and air pressure, enabling the preservation of sensitive samples.
The requirements of your specific cleanroom project will depend on the intended use and design. Our cleanrooms are validated by an independent inspector on completion, so you can be confident that the installation meets ISO requirements.
